On a St Giles house with a later extension, the usual next step is to inspect the junction from both roof levels, checking that the older and newer coverings discharge water correctly. Access planning for an Ermine hip repair should keep the front path usable and avoid resting equipment on a lower porch roof. Reinstatement at an Ermine corner includes properly secured cut pieces and a check of the water route into the eaves gutter.

A disturbed Ermine hip may need a day or less of roofing work once access is established, whereas opening a St Giles extension junction can require several dry stages. Scaffold around that Ermine hip and any concealed timber repairs should be identifiable in the itemised written quote. After reinstatement in St Giles, observe the affected junction from the garden and note any fresh ceiling marks, particularly during rain arriving from the direction that first exposed the defect.
